Why I Joined The Pastoral Medical Association

Posted by on Jan 16, 2017 in Uncategorized | Comments Off on Why I Joined The Pastoral Medical Association

I became acquainted with the Pastoral Medical Association (PMA) several years ago as a energy healer when I found out that there was a movement to remove the the licenses and Doctorates of Natural Path Doctors in Colorado.  I had also heard of several professional Emotional Freedom  Practitioners and Holistic Practitioners who were taken to Court by the State Licensing Board of Colorado for practicing healing without a licensed. It seemed the State Licensing Board of Colorado, probably spur on by the pharmaceutical companies was making a test case against all alternative practitioners.  Seeing this as a trend I applied for membership and was granted a Diplomat Status and passed all requirements to  become a licensed professional member of the PMA. The PMA is is is a self governing international, ecclesiastical (spiritually based) assembly of health care practitioners. The main distinction of a Ecclesiastic organization is  separation of church and state.  This status gives the PMA their own right to govern themselves without government interference.   The PMA was also set up to take a stand against the infringement of Government and dictates of State Licensing Boards and to empower and protect all healers right to practice with freedom from fear of persecution from the state. The PMA  is a rapidly growing institute made up of all levels of Mental Health and Health Care Workers which includes: Medical Doctors, Chiropractors and Alternative Health Practitioners who wish to practice with greater  security and ease without  fear of legal harassment and intervention from any Court or Agency. “Each patient carries his own doctor inside him. They come to us not knowing that truth. We are at our best when we give this doctor inside each person the chance to do his job.”   Dr. Albert Schweitzer, M.D. There were impressive findings reported in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA 1998 Vol. 280, No. 18 .) that there is a increasing number of people turning away from traditional  health care treatment with  47.3 % increase in total visits to alternative health practitioners. The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine also reports that more than 42% of Americans now use alternative medicine practitioners to address their physical, mental and emotional health and wellness concerns. They also showed that people turned to alternative medicine consultants mostly because natural health care more closely mirrors their own values, beliefs, and philosophical orientations toward life. In a Health Psychology Update – Vol 13 issue 3 July 2004.  The psychology of complementary and alternative medicine. Adrian Furnham reported that the success of alternative health care was varied but essentially boils down to more and more people are dismayed with traditional health care systems and they are looking to become a more active participant rather than a passive recipient. These active participants also believe in a mind body connection and believe that interventions at the psychological, social and spiritual level are  relevant and important as well as they want to learn how to take better care of themselves with relevant  information and skills. It’s understandable that the FDA and The Pharmaceutical companies would be alarmed at these findings.  They would perhaps begrudgingly allow people to be in charge of their spiritual well being but be very dubious and threaten by individuals becoming more conscious and empowered to...

Cellular Detox

Posted by on Jan 15, 2017 in Uncategorized | Comments Off on Cellular Detox

I’ve come to realize that with increasing toxins and prescription drug side effects that there is a need to look at alternatives to help us return to our original whole, complete healthy selves.   Detox is becoming more popular and I’ve discovered some major benefits from my own experiences.  Below is a reprinted article from the Pastoral Medical Association which I am a member. ` Toxicity: a Major Health Challenge ` Is Detox Really Important? Weight loss resistance and hormone health-related problems are epidemic today. A potential root of cause of these challenges is cellular inflammation caused by toxin build-up in your body. Regular use of a proven detoxification protocol can help release and eliminate toxins that drive inflammation and disrupt normal functioning, allowing you to regain vibrant health. ` Understanding Cellular Inflammation Cellular inflammation is a key concept to understand, as it is the reason why so many people are not feeling well and unable to lose weight. Membranes surrounding the cells in your body contain receptor sites that allow your cells to receive messages from your hormones and to act in response. These receptor sites also facilitate your cells communicating with one another. Problems begin, however, when toxins cause inflammation of the cellular membrane and blunt these receptors, blocking proper communication. Your cells simply don’t get the messages from your hormones to accept needed insulin or to burn body fat. And when your cells can’t communicate due to toxin-induced inflammation, not only don’t you feel well, the stage is set for chronic disease to occur. ` Hormone Therapy is a Short-Term Fix ` Many health practitioners today simply prescribe natural or synthetic hormones to help their clients feel better. But this is not a long-term solution. If it were, people taking the extra hormones would be lean, clear-minded and full of energy, with their health restored. But pushing more hormones at inflamed cell membranes is similar to parents yelling at their kids. At first, they respond a little, but over time they listen less and less. In the same way, your cells eventually become less sensitive to greater and greater hormone doses. Bottom line, your cells are still not getting the right hormonal messages. And you are left STILL not feeling well and unable to lose weight, no matter how much you diet or exercise. ` True Cellular Detox is the Key ` The best solution for addressing these hormone communication problems lies in fixing the cell. The process starts by reducing toxic burden and decreasing inflammation throughout your body. The True Cellular Detox™ program guides you step-by-step in decreasing cellular inflammation, while you learn the keys to effective cellular detox. Both are critically important to achieving hormone balance and lasting weight-loss. Dr. Daniel Pompa, DC, D.PSc, has devoted his professional career to understanding how best to address systemic cellular inflammation and restore cellular health for proper functioning. He was driven to find effective answers to these widespread problems by reason of his own health crisis and that of his wife, Merily. He discovered they both had extreme toxic burdens that needed to be resolved. Click Here to watch a short video in which Dr. Pompa explains how the True Cellular Detox™ program...

Why Would I Need A Coach to Succeed in Life or Relationships?

Posted by on Dec 8, 2016 in Uncategorized | Comments Off on Why Would I Need A Coach to Succeed in Life or Relationships?

We all get stuck from time to time in various areas of life.  Today more than ever before, we have experts to help us save time, money and stress by helping us make more progress than if we try to figure it out on our own.  There are many types of coaches just like other medical specialties. Business coaching, for example, can give you insight into your field of work or just general career planning and strategy advice – in much the same way that life coaching can help you plan other, more personal aspects of your life. Everybody has a point in their life when they feel lost, helpless, or burn out and inadequate to cope with the complexities of life.  Life and relationships have become more and more complex. Everything use to be more simple.  We knew what was expected of us and we had our roles and duties. However, roles have changed and expectations have changed especially in relationships. Men are not just expected to earn a living and women are not just expected to bare children.  Adding to the rules and roles changing in relationships,  job pressures, kids, financial stress also take a enormous toll on relationships. Life requires more of us and our relationships require more also. I remember as a teenager everyone worked on their own car. Today however cars have become more complicated.  Today Relationship are more complicated too.  We need advance communication training to know how to deal with impasses and losses as well as skills to keep from getting bough down in repeated arguments and repeated frustrations with our partners.  Conflict can actually be a doorway to greater intimacy if we have skills to deal with our conflicts instead of ignoring them but shutting down of avoid dealing with the underlying needs by blowing up. Relationship Experts and or  Life Coaches can be particularly helpful in supporting you and your partner to learn concrete skills you can use right away to improve your communication, resolve conflict, and enhance intimacy.   Without skills relationship can go into a downward spiral especially when negative habits keep individuals in a rut or impasse.  According to research, couples wait six years on average to get help and often bad habits are deeply entrenched.  When couples repeatedly shutdown, avoid or blow up  when dealing with problems, it can lead into a downward spiral especially  if something is not done to correct the problem. Most of us were educated to have skills like driving a car or we were taught a particular set of skills to earn a living, however few of us got skills to have a meaningful relationship.  It seems we were just expect to know how to connect with our partners and know how to express our deepest feelings and needs and to communicate effectively to resolve conflict. When we take our car to a mechanic when we need service, we do so to save time and trust the car will run better after the service.  Relationship Coaches are trained experts and have skill sets to help you recognize blocks that keep you from resolving conflict. Relationship Coaches can also  help you learn specific skills to better understand your stresses and how get past them.  A relationship or life coach can help you...

Got Stress – Here’s What To Do About It.

Posted by on May 23, 2016 in Uncategorized | Comments Off on Got Stress – Here’s What To Do About It.

I’ve become increasingly aware that over half of my Clients have reported increased stress over the last past five years with many indicating they live with “extreme stress.” Stress is a common experience today and correlated with numerous health challenges and can lead to serious dis-ease. Stress can be associated with anything from personal, family conflict to dealing with traffic and toxins in the environment and struggling with the economic downturn. THE SYMPTOMS OF STRESS: Symptoms of can range from  “butterflies” in the stomach to experiencing fatigue, headaches, upset stomach, and other unpleasant body sensations with increasing anxiety and worry to increased muscle tension and tightness all over the body manifesting in dizziness, nausea and even lead to full-blown rage and panic attacks. Stress and anxiety often go together and can also reduce our concentration, creativity and resourcefulness at times when we need them most. Over time stress can take an increasing toll on the body lead to reduce vitality, and resilience causing mental and emotional loss of wellbeing and functioning with increasing fatigue and depression. Anxiety Depression and Self Sabotage and other forms of stress may also be the result of past negative or traumatic experiences where we learned to associate a stress to certain types of person, place and/or situation. For example if you had an accident at a busy intersection you would be anxious in the future when approaching an intersection or if you experienced being humiliated when speaking up or in front of people, it would cause you to fear asserting yourself and speaking up in future situations. Likewise if you have been criticized growing up when doing math problems or anything else as a child, you likely would experience exaggerated stress, fear and anxiety when presented with math problems or other performance situations as an adult. Your primitive mind cannot tell the past from the present and will continually react to speaking in public or doing math or any past trauma with an alarm response (fight flight freeze).  This continuing alarm state or response causes your body to experience increased stress even though there may be not be a threat present today. Over time our primitive alarm system continually reacting to chronic stress takes an increasing toll on the body. Unresolved stress and anxiety are leading contributors to sickness and loss of vitality. Finding ways to reduce your stress is critical to help you stay healthy and maintain resilience and vitality to meet demands of work and family. But what’s a person to do with little time and continually increasing demands of family and work.  In our fast pace society, we need fast ways to help us keep up and stay ahead of our stress triggers. I recommend and teach my clients a number of stress reduction modalities to interrupt the fight flight freeze response and help them in becoming more conscious and intentional. EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHNIQUES TO THE RESCUE One of the best and easiest techniques to reduce stress and anxiety is Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT).  It’s really helpful for busy people who don’t have time to spend years in talk therapy and want to learn a gentle, fast technique to take the “angst” out of their anxiety and completely reduce their stress. The Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is a revolutionary new method...

When Should Couples Seek Counseling for Conflict

When Should Couples Seek Counseling for Conflict

In this article, Dr. Timothy Ryan, Ph.D, reveals The Hidden aspects behind couples conflict and When They Should Seek Therapy.  He also the common questions among couples, “When should we seek therapy?  ”Dr. Timothy Ryan, Ph.D, Answers: Why Don’t Couples Get Help Before It’s Too Late and When Should Couples Seek Therapy? Even couples that have put in the time and effort to invest in their relationship may find themselves with increasing stress and relationship challenges.. Today more than ever before, couples are struggling to cope with numerous stressors, anxiety, depression creating numerous turmoils compounded by the upheavals in society today.  There is the global threat of terrorism, increasing personal family debts and fears of economic down turns  pushing relationships families to the breaking point.   The increasing uncertainty and compounding stressors  are all happening at once with an all time high today. Two-thirds of all medical office visits are due to stress related symptoms (American Academy of Family Physicians).  Forty three percent of all  adults suffer adverse health effects from stress. (The Stress Solution: An Action Plan to Manage the Stress in Your Life, Lyle H. Miller, Ph.D. and Alma Dell Smith, Ph.D. ). Fifty-eight percent of Americans believe that one cant have good physical health without good mental health. Stress affects every aspect of our life including our relationships. Couples who don’t take care of themselves and their relationship can easily burnout and loose the resilience and resourcefulness to maintain their health and relationship well being.  Couples who get increasing pressures at home or work often find themselves unable to make decisions and to resolve issues facing them. Relationships seem to be the first line of defense suffering the most, in times of crisis and stress.  Men and women who have secure relationship bonds are much more resilient in coping with stess.  (Sue Johnson “Hold Me Tight).  Economic stress especially takes a hugh toll on couples and in many cases lead to divorce because of increasing overwhelme and worry about paying bills and cut back on taking time to nurture themselves and their relationship. After initially being deep in love, adoring each other, and easily finding ways to have fun being together, couples who become bogged down in stress with increasing tension can lose perspective on what attracted them to their partner and with increasing resentment blame themselves and their partner for their increasing unhappiness. Studies show that increased stress and anxiety reduces the ability to cope with even small issues.  Studies also high levels of hostility have been found to predict heart disease more often than high cholesterol, cigarette smoking, or obesity.  (Health Psychology, November (2002).    Couples who don’t know how to deal with stress and /or have poor communication skills also compound their problems adding frustrations with their partners who don’t have the skill to listen or understand and validate their feelings which creates additional problems.  These couples usually  resign themselves to burry their issues  and deny their problems, hoping that time will solve them, which it never does. THE FIRST SIGN OF TROUBLE IS A SIGN OF TROUBLE No one is at their best under stress.  The first sign of trouble in relationships is Initial quirks may turn into repeated triggers for arguments and nit picking at each other.  Over time, couples become...

Accessing Love with the Power of Gratitude

Posted by on May 12, 2016 in Uncategorized | Comments Off on Accessing Love with the Power of Gratitude

Accessing Love with the Power of Gratitude by Timothy J. Ryan, Ph.D.,D.Div. The practice of gratitude as a tool for accessing love and happiness has been in the mainstream for years. Long-term studies support gratitude’s effectiveness, suggesting that a positive, appreciative attitude contributes to greater success in work, greater health, peak performance in sports and business, a higher sense of well-being, and a faster rate of recovery from surgery. Heart Math has shown that when a person holds gratitude in their heart it increases their electromagnetic field 7 to 11 feet in contrast to fear, which shrinks the electromagnetic field.  Also The University of Riverside has shown that plants in a green house when compared with other plants in another green house grow significantly taller when there is a daily practice of gratitude toward them. But while we may acknowledge gratitude’s many benefits, it still can be difficult to sustain. So many of us are trained to notice what is broken, undone or lacking in our lives. And for gratitude to meet its full healing potential in our lives, it needs to become more than just a Thanksgiving word. We have to learn a new way of looking at things, a new habit. And that can take some time. That’s why practicing gratitude is the perfect way to enhance our body mind and spirit. When we practice giving thanks for all we have, instead of complaining about what we lack, we give ourselves the chance to see all of life as an opportunity and a blessing. Remember that gratitude isn’t a blindly optimistic approach in which the bad things in life are whitewashed or ignored. It’s more a matter of where we put our focus and attention. Pain and injustice exist in this world, but when we focus on the gifts of life, we gain a feeling of well-being. Gratitude balances us and gives us hope. There are many things to be grateful for: colorful autumn leaves, legs that work, friends who listen and really hear, chocolate, fresh eggs, warm jackets, tomatoes, the ability to read, roses, our health, butterflies. What’s on your list? Dr. Emoto, a Japanese researcher, discovered that distilled water on a dish when frozen after a person focuses on gratitude will display a beautiful Chrystal shape.  What has put Dr. Emoto at the forefront of the study of water is his proof that thoughts and feelings affect physical reality. By producing different focused intentions through written and spoken words and music and literally presenting it to the same water samples, the water appears to “change its expression.” One of the most beautiful picture from Dr. Emoto’s research is the picture of Love and Gratitude. LOVE AND GRATITUDE:  Dr. Emoto is quoted as saying: “There is a special combination that seems to be perfect for this, which is love plus the combination of thanks and appreciation reflected in the English word gratitude. Just one of these is not enough. Love needs to be based in gratitude, and gratitude needs to be based in love. These two words together create the most important vibration. And it is even more important that we understand the value of these words. For example, we know that water is described as H2O. If we were to look at love and gratitude as...

What is Holistic Psychotherapy?

Posted by on May 2, 2016 in Uncategorized | Comments Off on What is Holistic Psychotherapy?

What is Holistic Psychotherapy?

What is Holistic Psychotherapy? Holistic psychotherapy has proven increasingly cost effective and successful as an alternative and compliment to traditional psychotherapy.  Holistic Psychotherapy combines the best of  traditional “talk” therapy and integrates it with complimentary alternative mind, body, spirit energy  healing methods. Various methods of traditional talk therapy have proven effective to a certain extent as a primary method alone.  Traditional talk therapy alone has limitations in taking more time and involves increased cost.  Talk therapy alone is also limited in that it works only on the mental and emotional levels to target limiting / destructive ideas, beliefs, limiting  thought decisions, behavior relational patterns, values,  and negative feelings that are stuck and/or habitual usual does not help to integrate with the whole person on a mind, body spiritual level. Alternative Energy Psychology healing methods work on the physical, energetic and spiritual levels for total integration and long lasting results.  Energy Medicine, Meta Healing and Energy Psychology  include energy system balancing techniques, guided visualization, meditation, dream work, somatic awareness, therapeutic  breathing techniques, and integrates spirit or soul exploration  to re-frame an individuals issues into a larger perspective.   See META Healing Techniques Below. The beauty of META Healing and Energy Psychology as  alternative healing methods is that they are gentle and can be learned easily and can be used right away and can be assimilated into a person’s repertoire of healthy coping skills for long-term stability and balance. A holistic approach supports the individual to return to their original wholeness with an integration of mind, body and spiritual alignment.  A Holistic Psychotherapist would see client symptoms as blocks to be removed and not signs of brokenness. For example, someone traumatized in childhood would have limited coping skills and naturally repress painful memories and associated emotions into the unconscious because their human system as a whole would not be able to understand or make sense of the intensity of the trauma.  Panic symptoms might arise every time a person comes in contact with triggers that remind him/her of the original trauma which would  repeatedly need to be  pushed down again and again creating a pressure cooker effect and creating an internal battle / conflict part of the energy system trying to block out the trauma using distractions and or medications and another part of the energy system trying to release the trauma and restore the system to balance. It would be like driver a car with one foot on the break trying to stop the emotions from surfacing and the other foot on the gas petal trying to release the emotions and move forward.   Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Anxiety leading to Panic Attacks  are some of the symptoms of the mind acting like a fly wheel spinning uncontrollably in defense against emotions trying to surface.  These blocked emotions would be underlying all OCD and Panic Disorders resulting stuck and stagnant  energy leading to exhaustion, leading to eventual overwhelming panic attacks and other problems. Chinese Medicine has  known for over five thousand years that emotions are literally‘energy in motion’, so stuck energy is the culprit underlying all physical, emotional, mental disease.  When energy  is stuck in the body,  an individual experiences his/her energy  as though they  are shut down, restless, depressed or anxious with O.C.D. and Attention  Deficit Disorder and/or  panic attacks to...
